Why You Should Buy an Electric Off-Road Vehicle
Help save the planet: Small motorcycles are far from the most fuel-intensive vehicles. But electric dirt bikes can still reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and every little bit helps.
Less maintenance: Electric motors require fewer moving parts. That means more riding time and less time (and money) to replace parts. You also don't need to buy oil or anything like that.
Less noise: Electric dirt bikes do make some noise. But they make less noise than a burning dirt bike - noise that reduces the enjoyment of being out in nature for the rider and those nearby.
Easier for new riders to use: Like electric cars, electric dirt bikes don't require a manual to propagate. This may disappoint some riders looking for a traditional feel. But it's also easier to manage when off-road.
Torque: Electric dirt bikes tend to have a lot of torque that is generated immediately. This helps them accelerate quickly and feel fast on everyday rides.
How do I find it?
Street legality: Just like burning dirt bikes, many of them won't be street legal. You probably live in a municipality that would confiscate and crush them if you tried to do that with them - electric or not. There are dual sport electric dirt bikes (lighter than adventure motorcycles) that can also be used as commuter bikes. But make sure you clarify this before you buy.
Battery range: Range is a major drawback to any electric vehicle. You want to make sure you have enough range to complete the amount of riding you plan to do. More expensive electric buggies may have a range that exceeds the physical capacity of most drives. But that can be costly.
Battery Charging: Another important factor outside of the A-range is how long it takes to charge the battery. The shorter, the better. Manufacturers may offer accessories that increase the speed of charging. Some off-road vehicles can be replaced with a freshly charged battery and returned to the track immediately.
